It is safe to state that India’s EV scene is no longer in its infancy. Consumer interest in EVs has grown as a result of consistent increase in charging infrastructure, more cheap and accessible pricing, zero emissions, and an expanded selection of options across all price points. However, range anxiety continues to deter many potential EV buyers.
While the worries are genuine, many automobile manufacturers now provide EVs with adequate range on a single charge to cover even long highway trips. We’ve produced a list of the ten electric cars and SUVs with the most stated range on a single charge (as of February 2025). Please keep in mind that this list was ranked based on automobiles evaluated on the demanding WLTP cycle rather than the more relaxing ARAI cycle. Naturally, the ranking focuses on the high-end of India’s EV range.
1. Mercedes-Benz EQS – 677km

The Mercedes EQS 580 is the sporty electric four-door ‘coupe’ version of the luxury S-Class, and it leads our list with a WLTP-certified range of up to 677 kilometers. The EQS 580 is powered by a 107.8kWh battery, features a dual motor system that delivers 523hp and 855Nm, and is assembled locally in Mercedes’ Pune factory, ensuring that the price does not skyrocket. The EQS 580 even helped us set a new Guinness World Record for the longest travel made by an EV on a single charge.
2. Lotus Emeya – 610km

The Lotus Emeya is the newest EV on this list, having only been released in India two weeks ago. It is available in three models. The basic Emeya, priced at Rs 2.34 crore, features a two motor, 102kWh battery configuration with 600hp and 710Nm and a WLTP-certified range of up to 610km. The mid-spec S has the same internals but a reduced 540km WLTP range. The top-spec Emeya R, meanwhile, is the sportiest model of the lot, with 905hp and 985Nm of torque, although it has the shortest WLTP range of up to 435km.
3. BMW i7 – 603km

The BMW i7 is an all-electric version of the 7 Series that stands out with modest blue accents on the body and a “i” badge on the front grille. For Indian consumers, the i7 comes in two flavors: eDrive50 M Sport and xDrive M70. Both have dual motors and a 101.7 kWh battery pack, with the eDrive50 producing 449hp, 650Nm of torque, and a 603km WLTP-certified range. The range-topping i7 M70 increases output to 650hp and 1015Nm, but reduces range to 488km-560km on the WLTP cycle.
4. Lotus Eletre / Audi Q8 e-tron sportback – 600km

Two luxury SUVs from Lotus and Audi are tied for third place. The Lotus Eletre and Eletre S feature a 603hp dual-motor setup that allows them to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 4.5 seconds. They come with a 112kWh battery with a claimed range of 600km using the WLTP cycle.

The Audi Q8 e-tron was introduced in India last year, and while it comes in two variations and two body styles, the Q8 e-tron Sportback 55 model boasts the longest range of the lot, with a WLTP certified range of 600km. The electric SUV features a 114kWh battery and two electric motors producing 340hp and 408hp in the 50 and 55 models, respectively.
5. Porsche Macan Turbo – 591km

Porsche announced an all-electric version of the Macan SUV in early 2024. It’s based on the brand’s new PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, which is also used by the Audi Q6 e-tron and the future Porsche Cayenne EV. The Macan Turbo is powered by two electric motors that provide a combined 639 horsepower and up to 1,130 Nm of torque for short durations of overboost. This allows the electric SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 260kph. The electric Macan has a 95kWh battery that can be charged at speeds up to 270kW.
