Toyota Launches Limited-Run GR Supra GT4 50 Edition Race Car

Toyota will produce six cars

The Toyota Supra made a triumphant return for the 2020 model year, and Toyota wasted no time in putting it through its paces. The GR Supra GT4 was also introduced in 2020, with sales of the track-only car reaching 50 by the end of 2021. With the new Toyota GR Supra GT4 50 Edition, which adds a handful of additional features above the basic car, Toyota will add at least six more to that list.

A distinctive red exterior with gold paintwork is applied to each Toyota GR Supra GT4 50 Edition. The driver gets a new race seat with embroidered branding on the inside. A passenger seat is also included as standard equipment from Toyota. The car also has 50 Edition branding on the inside, as well as a numbered plaque on the raw carbon-fiber dashboard. For transport, the race car also comes with an inside car cover.

The race car is powered by the same BMW turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine that produces 424 horsepower (311 kilowatts). It uses an automated transmission to transmit power to the rear wheels. The Toyota GR Supra GT4 50 Edition’s price remains unaltered.

On the outside, the automobile resembles the street version, with the exception of a large wing and a menacing chin spoiler. The body is made of steel. The car’s track-only ambitions are visible through the side windows, but it’s the inside that really exposes this isn’t your typical Supra. Toyota stripped the cabin down to the bare bones, replacing the dashboard with a carbon-fiber one that lacks the creature amenities of the road-going version. Since its debut, the Toyota GR Supra GT4 has competed in over 250 races, winning 36 class championships and placing 78 times on the podium. Toyota claims it will continue to develop and produce the GR Supra GT4 while also providing assistance to owners for the foreseeable future.

Even while speculations claim the vehicle may have a manual transmission for the 2023 model year, it’s improbable that that future includes a manual gearbox. We don’t know much about the Supra’s future, but we’re hoping for a lot more from the company in the future.
