The collaboration of the Japanese automakers, Toyota and Suzuki, of building definite cars for each other, aimed for specific markets is all known to us. South Africa was first auto market (other than india) to taste this agreement; last year Toyota had launched the Starlet hatchback, which was a re branded Suzuki Baleno. Taking it forward Toyota has launched it Urban Cruiser in South Africa.
The Urban Cruiser will be offered in three variants Xi, Xs and Xr for South Africa. With all equipped with 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, and offers outputs of 77 kW (103.26bhp) and 138 Nm. Speaking of fuel consumptionToyota claims an average of 16 KMPL. The Urban Cruiser is priced, starting at RM 247K for the 1.5 Xi, where as the 1.5 Xr automatic retails at RM 315K which makes it slightly expensive than its sibling Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

The compact SUV will find favor as an affordable car from the local buyers. The Indian-built crossover steps into the path of several crossovers in the market.
