Many auto majors have their great offerings in the segment. Skoda also launched the Kushaq on 28th June which get a positive response following the same path Volkswagen is now gearing up for this big launch in August.
Volkswagen Taigun will compete with well-entrenched rivals like Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, and MG Hector among others. But one thing we affirm is that Taigun will be a firm competition to the key players.
Before the launch here are 5 things to know about the all-new Volkswagen Taigun.
1. Volkswagen Taigun Exterior and Design
Volkswagen has already revealed the design specs of Taigun in March this year. The SUV will use the same MQB AO IN platform which is also used in Kushaq. This platform will provide more space inside the cabin because of the longer wheelbase. Taigun has a wheelbase of 2,651 mm, which is the longest in the segment.
The SUV gets a prominent VW slatted grille at the front. It also features a sleek LED headlight and LED DRL units on both sides which adds modernity to the looks. The fog lamps are fitted inside the chrome garnished casing. The top end of the car will also feature circular wheel arches which will cover the 17-inch alloy wheel and it will get the chrome door handles, silver roof rails, and the blacked-out B-pillars.
2. Volkswagen Taigun Interior
Taigun will get two-tone interiors with synthetic leather used on gear nob, steering wheel, armrests, and headrests. The dashboard will be equipped with a 10.1-inch main infotainment screen and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster with support to Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Some other interior highlights feature ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and ambient lighting.
3. Volkswagen Taigun Engine and Transmission
This compact SUV will be offered in 2 engine options. A 1.0-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol will offer 113 hp and 175 Nm of torque while on another side the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine will belt out 148 hp and offer 250 Nm of torque. Taigun will not offer a diesel engine option just like Skoda Kushaq.
This amazing SUV comes with 3 transmission options. The first will be a 6-speed manual transmission for all trims. And the top trims offer a 6-speed torque converter automatic and an optional 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
4. Volkswagen Taigun Safety
Safety on the car will be assisted by safety features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, tire-pressure monitoring system, and traction control.
Other safety features include child lock, central locking, anti-theft alarm while the SUV will also feature a notification warning system such as seat belt warning, low fuel indicator, door-ajar warning, and headlamp on warning tone among many others.
5. Volkswagen Taigun Price
The most crucial aspect while selecting a car is the pricing and this will also determine the future of Taigun to the Indian market. The VW Taigun is expected to launch at the price around the native sibling Skoda Kushaq or maybe slightly higher. This means the Volkswagen Taigun price in India will be around Rs.11 lakhs of the base variant and will go up to Rs. 17 lakhs (Both Prices ex-showroom)for the top end.
