Yamaha YZF-R3 2025 Design Patented In India

Yamaha Motor India may be ready to launch an improved YZF-R3, as the business just filed a design patent for the motorcycle in India. The updated version of the fully-faired R3 was launched globally in October 2024, with a revamped design and additional features while keeping the iconic 321 cc parallel-twin engine. The current-generation Yamaha R3 has been available in India since last year, and it recently received a big price decrease.

The current edition of the R3 has received significant design changes to align with Yamaha’s larger supersport portfolio. The twin-headlamp system, which was formerly separated by an air chamber, has been replaced by a single headlamp positioned in the center, with LED DRLs on either side. Furthermore, the fairing has been modified to seem sharper and more aerodynamic.

It has a new digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. The motorcycle retains a 37 mm KYB upside-down (USD) front fork configuration, along with an adjustable mono shock in the rear. The braking system remains intact, with a 298 mm front and 220 mm rear discs.

The new R3’s powerplant will retain the same 321 cc parallel-twin engine that produced 41.42 horsepower and 29.5 Nm of torque previously. The 6-speed gearbox does, however, now include a slip-and-assist clutch.

The redesigned Yamaha R3, like its predecessor, is planned to be imported as a Completely Built Unit. The outgoing model was previously priced at Rs 4.65 lakh (ex-showroom), but Yamaha has cut the price by Rs 1.10 lakh, lowering it to Rs 3.60 lakh (ex-showroom). It remains to be revealed how much the improved version will cost when it lands in India.
