Toyota, a Japanese carmaker, is working on a number of new models for the South Asian market. The new Innova HyCross, a new mid-sized SUV, and the next-generation Fortuner SUV will be unveiled. According to a recent media source, the all-new Toyota Fortuner will debut in Thailand in 2023.
The mechanics of the all-new Toyota Fortuner will be significantly altered. According to the source, the next-generation Fortuner will be built on Toyota’s TNGA-F platform, which is used to build the brand’s large body-on-frame SUVs and full-size pickup trucks. A wheelbase length of 2,850-4,180mm is supported by the platform. The Land Cruise J300, Lexus LX, Toyota Sequoia, and Toyota Tundra are all built on this architecture.
The next-gen Toyota Fortuner will come with a new diesel engine with mild-hybrid system. The SUV will receive the 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine. Similar to the Suzuki’s mild-hybrid system, the new Fortuner mild hybrid diesel version will come with an integrated starter generator (ISG).
According to previous speculations, Toyota’s next mild-hybrid diesel engine could be dubbed the GD Hybrid. The mild-hybrid version of the all-new Toyota Fortuner is expected to offer improved fuel efficiency and torque on demand. It will include a start/stop system for the engine. The mild-hybrid system allows the new Fortuner to collect kinetic energy while braking or decelerating, which may be used to give more torque when driving. The new model is projected to have more power and torque as well as better fuel economy.
