2024 Dodge Charger Could Get Pagani-Style Active Aero Flaps

The 2024 Dodge Charger may use active aerodynamics, according to Dodge experts. A leading-edge airfoil system integrated into the R-Wing is shown in a recent patent file from FCA US. The carmaker intended for it to minimize front-end lift and drag, but it’s not clear if the feature will actually go into production.

The Pagani Huayra, a Ferrari, has a wing supported by a central stanchion that directs air over the vehicle. Active flaps in the aerodynamic system modify airflow as necessary. These flaps, like those on the Pagani Huayra and Ferrari 12Cilindri, can move separately or together to help with braking and fast cornering. The driver can manually set them, or they can be adjusted based on outside factors, vehicle speed, and drive mode.

Dodge’s Charger is set to launch the Banshee variant, featuring an 800-volt architecture, which could be the perfect candidate for an aerodynamic system. The Banshee variant, which will be available next year, is expected to enhance the car’s performance capabilities, although enthusiasts may not be satisfied with the lack of a Hemi V-8 engine or the battery-electric option. The Banshee variant could provide significant aerodynamic assistance, especially considering the powerful Charger Daytona EV’s 670 horsepower.
