New Range Rover Sport 5 Coolest Features

We take a look at some of the awesome features that this SUV has to offer.

1. The Design

It doesn’t seem very unique at first sight. You might be excused for assuming that it’s just a continuation of the Sport’s style, but Land Rover’s design team really put some thought into the aesthetic.

For the first time, the Sport and the large-body Range Rover were designed and developed together to guarantee that each vehicle has its own distinct appearance, feel, and personality.

We adore the lean proportions, broad stance, and small overhangs. The flush exterior, clean design lines, and tiny, exquisite LED lights contrast them well. One of those vehicles you’ll take one final glance at before entering the home.

2. It Deserves The “Sport” Badge

Naturally, Land Rover wants to highlight the remarkable power and fuel efficiency of the mild and plug-in hybrid models. In 2024, a totally electric Sport will also be added to the lineup, and a ferocious SVR will follow in about a year.

The P530, which is presently only offered in First Edition trim, is the quickest model.
The lowly P530 should be avoided if you possess a modern SVR. It boasts a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine with 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque that was purchased from BMW. The supercharged 5.0-liter V8 in the outgoing SVR makes 575 horsepower but only 516 lb-ft of torque.

The BMW engine is significantly more modern. In the SVR, maximum power is only reached at 6,000 rpm, while maximum torque is only accessible from 3,500 rpm. The Bimmer engine generates such enormous amount of torque at just 1,800 revolutions per minute. Additionally, torque is important if you chance to collide at a set of traffic lights.
The quickest Sport was the departing Land Rover SVR, which needed 4.3 seconds to reach 60 mph. The P530 belongs to the standard range and accelerates to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds.

The sporty First Edition also has two other tricks up its sleeve. We’re pretty confident these features will eventually become part of or optional on more models, but they’re model-specific for now.

The first is Dynamic Response Pro, and it works hand-in-hand with the standard air suspension. It controls body lean by using the 48-volt onboard system to control an electronic active roll control system. This system can apply up to 1000 ft-lbs of torque across each axle to keep the body from flopping about like a freshly caught salmon.

Secondly, we have the Stormer Handling Pack. It adds the above-mentioned Dynamic Response Pro, plus all-wheel steering and an active electronic differential with torque vectoring via braking. The active differential allows for even more personal adjustment within the various driving modes.

If these features are part of the regular line-up, imagine what tricks Land Rover is working on for the upcoming SVR.

3. It’s Still A Proper Off-Roader

We were sure that Land Rover would dump the “Twin-Speed Transfer Box” and electronically-activated differentials. In addition to saving weight, there’s no reason to include it. Have you ever seen a Sport tackling anything more daunting than a multi-story car park?

The first-generation Porsche Cayenne had locking differentials and low-range gearing, but Porsche dropped it as soon as it could. SUVs like the X5 and GLE never even bothered in the first place. But according to Land Rover, Sport owners demand all of these off-road goodies.

Why? Well, we can only speculate. It’s the same sort of attitude as buying a supercar capable of doing 200 mph. The average owner will likely never use that capability, but it’s nice to know that it’s there. So while you may never try and drive over a mountain, you can tell your mates that the car is more than capable of doing it, and is, therefore, superior to whatever SUV they have parked in the garage.

4. The Interior Tech

The Sport has a tonne of intriguing tech features in addition to the premium materials and clever use of contrasting colours.

The 13.1-inch curved touchscreen running Land Rover’s award-winning Pivi Pro software is used to operate almost everything. Everything is controlled by it, including media, navigation, and car settings. Thankfully, Land Rover separated the temperature control controls from other settings.

The small adjustments Land Rover made to Pivi Pro to make it more pleasant to use are what we like the most. The device is capable of picking up on its owner’s routines. Although you can customise the home screen, the Sport eventually just puts the most often used features there for quick access. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard, of course.

An eSim is also a feature of the infotainment system, enabling the driver to access their Amazon account without a smartphone. The vehicle is then utilised as a massive V8-powered Alexa. Pivi Pro has Alexa built in, and you may access her by speaking “Alexa” or touching the Alexa button on the touchscreen.

5. Top-Class Refinement

Although we haven’t yet driven the Range Rover Sport, we can almost surely expect it to be smooth, compliant, and comfortable. All of those things describe the current sport.

The new Sport elevates elegance to a completely new level thanks to the premium Meridian Signature Sound System. It has a new subwoofer, 29 speakers, and an amplifier that can produce up to 1,430W of power as standard. To improve the experience, speakers are integrated into each of the four primary seat headrests.
Imagine driving around while enjoying Bach’s Prelude, Cello Suite No. 1 while admiring the lower-class plebs below.

The Sport also reduces outside noise using its audio system. A microphone and an accelerometer are installed in each tyre arch to record any noises that enter the cabin. The Meridian sound system is then used by digital processors to compute the volume of noise-canceling sound needed to remove this from the cabin.
