River, an electric two-wheeler manufacturer based in Bengaluru, has introduced what it refers to as the SUV of electric scooters. With many tricks up its sleeve, including a 120km range, it goes by the name Indie. The company has priced the Indie at Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru) and deliveries will commence from August 2023.
The River Indie has a rather unique design, with a bold front fascia that houses a square-shaped dual LED headlamp inside of a curved front apron. The boxy rear section, which has a rectangular tail lamp, is reached by a neat transition from the side panels. The Indie has some distinctive features like integrated crash guards into the body panel, pannier stays, a clip-on handlebar, and rider footrests for when the floorboard is occupied.

The Indie electric scooter also comes with lots of storage space, including a 43-liter underseat compartment and a 12-liter front glove box. A fully digital colour display, two USB charging ports, and reverse parking assistance functionality are additional helpful features. The Indie’s propulsion system utilises a 6.7kW motor and a 4kWh battery pack to deliver a combined range of 120km and a top speed of 90kmph. Notably, using the standard charger, the battery can be charged up to 80% in five hours.
The River Indie electric scooter will initially only be available in Bengaluru, and pre-orders can be made on the company official website.
