The upcoming Toyota Supra might switch to an all-electric drivetrain, if rumours are to be believed. Additionally, the Mk6 Supra will replace the straight-six engine developed in partnership with BMW after 2025 with an electronic drivetrain based on the e-TNGA platform developed by the Japanese automaker.

The sixth-generation Supra will almost certainly maintain a RWD layout, with motors mounted on the back axle and supported by e-TNGA underpinnings. Although there has been no formal announcement from the automaker, it is possible that the upcoming Supra will follow in the footsteps of EVs like Nissan’s GT-R and Alpine’s upcoming sports car.

The A90 Supra will allegedly receive a high-performance GRMN version with twin-turbocharging and a Nurburgring lap time before the EV replacement comes. The power production is anticipated to be greater than 550bhp, if it serves as the final Supra. But before making the leap to a fully electric vehicle, a move towards a hybrid engine seems more sensible. However, the Supra EV is currently just as genuine as the Loch Ness Monster.
