Tata Sierra Design Patent Filed In India

The Sierra SUV is one of Tata Motors’ most anticipated forthcoming debuts. Following its debut in near-production form at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the production-ready version was recently sighted being tested on Indian highways. Tata Motors has already filed a design patent for the new Sierra, a 22-year-old nameplate being revived in the form of a five-door model.

The design patent images closely mirror the model presented at the Auto Expo as well as the newly spotted test mule. While the new Sierra retains the boxy stance of its predecessor, its appearance has undergone major changes. The version shown at the Expo had a striking black panel including a full-width LED DRL strip. The slim headlights flank the grille’s integrated air intakes. The front fascia also features a substantial air dam and a sturdy skid plate at the bottom of the bumper.

The Sierra’s silhouette is sleek and elegant, with a little shoulder line. The near-production variant included glossy black cladding around the wheel arches and down the lower half of the doors. The SUV’s rear incorporates a linked light bar that spans the tailgate.

In terms of technology, the cabin will be well-equipped. It will be equipped with a big touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, ventilated seats, a sunroof, and Level 2 ADAS.

Tata Motors has already indicated that the Sierra will be available with next-generation powertrains in both all-electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) configurations. While the exact specifications are unknown, the SUV is expected to include Tata’s new 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol engine, with a diesel variant potentially possible.
