Mahindra is currently working on five new electric SUVs that will debut in the next few years, beginning in 2024. These include a new XUV700 electric SUV and four other EVs that will provide Indian buyers with a premium and feature-rich package. While the company has yet to announce the official launch dates for these new electric vehicles in India, the XUV700-based XUV.e8 electric SUV has been spotted testing in the country ahead of its launch next year.
Mahindra is currently collaborating with Volkswagen on a new electric platform that will serve as the foundation for both brands’ upcoming electric vehicles. This new architecture, known as the INGLO skateboard platform, provides great flexibility and a flat floor for better space management inside the car.
In India, the XUV.e8 will share the same exterior design language as the XUV700 and will have a 2750mm wheelbase. The exterior dimensions are also expected to be similar to the XUV700.
The electric SUV, on the other hand, will have revised front styling, as well as new headlights and bumpers. Smart copper inserts will also be added to reflect the all-electric powertrain.

Inside, the new XUV.e8 will receive a number of changes that will not only distinguish it from the XUV700, but will also give it a premium and upmarket feel. The infotainment system will also be replaced, and the instruments console is expected to follow suit. The new platform will enable designers to improve the cabin’s space and comfort levels.
The new XUV700-based electric SUV will be powered by a Volkswagen-sourced powertrain, the specifics of which are unknown. According to reports, the new XUV.e8 will have a battery pack with a rated capacity of around 80 kWh. Furthermore, the SUV is expected to have a dual-motor setup and a claimed top speed of 155 mph and claimed range of close to 500 km on a single charge.
With the lower-spec variants of the new XUV.e8, the brand may also introduce a rear-wheel-drive, single-motor setup. The new Mahindra XUV.e8 is expected to be released in the second half of 2023.
