Ford held a contest in June to name the new Black Accent Package for the Mustang. Later that month, Ford filed a worldwide trademark application for “Dark Horse,” and we thought it was a potential winner. However, that was not the case, and we were mistaken, as the Blue Oval has just announced the release of the new Mustang Nite Pony Package.
This is Ford’s second pack, which is available on the Mustang coupe as well as the Mustang Mach-E electric crossover. The Ice White package added white badging, wheels, and an exterior colour that contrasted nicely with this year’s Nite Pony.
The upgrade will be available on two 2023 Mach-E trims: the extended range Premium and the GT Performance Edition. The Premium has black 19-inch wheels with a black Pony badge, while the GT PE has larger 20-inch spinners with a black GT badge.
Both trims get black front and rear lower fascias, as well as black door cladding and mirror caps. The upgrade isn’t all doom and gloom, with Ford displaying vibrant running pony graphics on the black wheel caps. The Nite Pony Package will be available with any Mach-E exterior colour.
The Nite Pony kit completes the mirror caps, the GT and Pony badges, and the roof in black on the 2022 Mustang coupe. In addition, the car has 19-inch black aluminium wheels, a black grille, a painted black roof, and a black decklid spoiler. Both the coupe and crossover have been given a sinister makeover.
Ford received 11,000 submissions in the first 24 hours of the contest, totaling 29,000 submissions. Nite Pony triumphed over three other finalists, including Alastor, Shadowmare, and Shadow Stallion. Nite Pony was the best choice.
“The response to naming the Mustang Nite Pony Package was incredible – this was a fun way to get our passionate fans involved,” said Suzy Deering, global chief marketing officer at Ford.
