Renault Kiger 2023 Launched With BS6 2 Compliant Engines
Renault India has introduced the 2023 Kiger, which costs Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). The tiny SUV has gained BS6 6-compliant powertrains and a slew of safety measures as part of the upgrade. Other Renault vehicles, such as the Triber and Kwid, have received a similar upgrade.
All Renualt Kiger models now come standard with an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), and a tyre pressure monitor. The Kiger comes with 1.0-liter petrol and 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engines. Both of these powertrains are now BS6 2-ready and will meet the pollution standards that will go into effect on April 1, 2023.
The 1.0-litre petrol engine generates 71bhp and 96Nm of torque, while the turbo-petrol engine delivers 99bhp and 160Nm of peak torque. While a five-speed manual transmission is standard, the normally aspirated version has an automatic manual, while the turbo version gets a CVT.
“Renault India is dedicated to the Government of India’s objective for a clean and green environment,” said Venkatram Mamillapalle, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India Operations. The introduction of new BSVI Step 2 certified petrol engines throughout the range will result in significant emissions reductions, contributing to a safer and cleaner environment.”
