Because of the rising demand for SUVs, automakers are preparing to launch a slew of new SUV and MPV models in India over the next few years. Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce 4-5 new SUVs in the next two years in order to gain considerable market share. In addition, Mahindra will introduce a slew of new SUVs over the next two to three years.

— By mid-2022, Maruti Suzuki will introduce the new Brezza, which will include significant design improvements and fully redesigned interiors. An electric sunroof, cruise control, paddle shifters, wireless charging, a sim-based connection suite, six airbags, and other high-end technologies will be included in the new model.
— Maruti Suzuki will also introduce a compact SUV Coupe to compete with the Brezza. It’ll most likely be the production-spec Futuro-e, which will compete with Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet higher-end models. In addition, Maruti Suzuki is working on a five-door Jimny for the Indian market. A new mid-sized SUV is also being developed by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota JV to compete with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. All of these models are expected to be under Rs 20 lakh.
— By mid-2022, Mahindra plans to release the latest Scorpio generation. It will be built on the new Thar’s ladder-on-frame platform. – Kia will launch the Carens 3-row MPV by March 2022. It will rival the likes of the Suzuki XL6, Mahindra Marazzo, Hyundai Alcazar and the entry-level variants of the Toyota Innova Crysta. The SUV will share the engine options with the Seltos SUV.
— Jeep will enter the subcompact SUV sector with an all-new model built on the new CMP platform, which also underlies the Citroen C3 that will be released soon. Honda, on the other hand, is working on a new mid-size car based on the City platform. The new Honda SUV, which is expected to debut before the end of 2023, will compete with the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. It will most likely be available with a 1.5L petrol engine and a hybrid drivetrain.
In addition, MG Motor has stated that an all-new electric -crossover will be released by the end of March 2023. It will cost between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh and will be based on a global network. The new crossover will be a direct competitor to the Tata Nexon EV.
