In 2019, the Lincoln Corsair made its debut to much fanfare. Despite the attention it got for its attractive look, Lincoln has only sold a few number of the vehicle since it first debuted. In 2021, 22,790 Corsairs were sold, but would that number rise with the SUV’s next mid-cycle update?
New spy shots give us our best look so far of what’s in store for the next Corsair. The new design takes cues from the Lincoln Navigator, dipping further into the fascia. Heavy camouflage covers that concealed details on previous prototypes are gone, revealing the bigger grille. There’s very little left for a bumper, and the lower portion of the fascia looks unchanged. A narrow piece of camouflage wrap identifies the stopping point, separating the new upper grille from the lower opening.
Camo wrap still hides the corners of the Corsair’s face, but there are no other changes on the outside of the vehicle. The rest of the car is completely free of camouflage and the headlights and trim lights look identical to the current models. The rest of this test vehicle is completely free of camouflage, indicating there are no other changes on the outside.
The interior and drivetrain are now left for consideration. We previously observed a prototype and observed an odd box fastened to the SUV’s back near the exhaust. Additionally, the exhaust tips were non-production, which suggested that some sort of emissions testing was in progress. As a result, it’s probable that adjustments will be made internally. At the moment, customers have a choice of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 2.3-liter turbo-four, or a 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid.
Lincoln could surprise us with something new during a mid-cycle refresh, while a modest increase in power is absolutely not out of the question. Anything radically different inside the engine seems doubtful given the slight outward alterations. The interior, which has so far escaped our spy photos, is the same. In this fresh batch, we can see coverings on the dash, which suggests some changes are on the way. It is possible to use larger touchscreens and other trim options.
All signs point to the updated Corsair making its appearance for the 2023 model year. This test vehicle appears to be production-ready, so we anticipate a debut sometime in the late summer or early fall.
