5 Door Mahindra Thar Roxx: The Things You Loved

Soon after its introduction, the Mahindra Thar Roxx shot to popularity in India as a result of its attractive appearance on the road, high-end equipment, potent engines, and competitive price. Here are the things we loved and didn’t like about the SUV after testing the Thar Roxx, which is basically a 5-door variant of the Thar.

Highlights

1. Road Presence

The Thar Roxx amplifies the road presence of the Thar 3-door, which is already rather noticeable. The latter is larger than its 3-door sibling in all dimensions, including its enormous 400 mm long wheelbase. The Tata Safari, MG Hector, and Mahindra XUV700 are just a few of the compact and midsize family SUVs in India that are shorter than the Thar Roxx due to its proportions. Because of all of this, the Thar Roxx is a highly sought-after SUV for its price range.

2. A Premium Cabin

The inside of the Thar Roxx has a two-tone black and white cabin decor. The Thar Roxx also has soft touch on the door pads and upper dashboard, in contrast to some of its immediate competitors like the Maruti Jimny and Force Gurkha 5-door. Along with the Thar Roxx, you also receive white leatherette upholstery for the seats, and the steering wheel is also covered in leatherette. All of this contributes to raising the interior’s premiumness factor and making it cozier.

3. Loaded With Features

You won’t be disappointed by the Thar Roxx’s features, even though it’s an off-road SUV. Automatic air conditioning, ventilated front seats, and two 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment and digital driver’s display are on the list. In addition, it has a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a wireless phone charger, and a panoramic sunroof.

Six airbags are standard on the Thar Roxx, along with a 360-degree camera and Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that include lane keep assist, automated emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

4. A Well-Equipped Base Variant

You won’t be sorry even if you choose the Thar Roxx’s entry-level model because Mahindra has made sure to include all the necessities. A 10.25-inch touchscreen, steering-mounted audio controls, a 4-speaker sound system, all-four power windows, and push-button start/stop are included in the base-spec MX1 version of the SUV. Six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), rear parking sensors, and a tire pressure monitoring system are among its safety features. All of this is available for a special price of Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

5. Wide Range Of Variants

The Thar Roxx is available from Mahindra in two general version levels: MX and AX. These sub-variants further subdivide into AX-AX3L, AX5L, and AX7L, and MX-MX1, MX3, and MX5. The Thar Roxx is also available with turbo-petrol and diesel engine options, both of which come with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission. The majority of the gasoline models have rear-wheel drive, while 4-wheel drive is an optional feature that is only offered with the diesel.

Downsides

1. Ride Quality Isn’t Good

We discovered that the Thar Roxx has a rigid suspension system, which causes a lot of side-to-side movement on difficult terrain during our first driving experience. Inside the cabin, potholes and speed breakers are easy to feel, with the effect being particularly noticeable in the second-row seats. Even on those better roads, you can still see the body roll. Therefore, the Thar Roxx might not be the best option if you’re searching for an SUV that offers a comfortable ride.

2. Low Fuel Efficiency

The Thar Roxx’s fuel efficiency is quite low due to its strong gasoline and diesel engines, particularly in the case of the automatic versions. For the gasoline automatic, you should anticipate less than 10 km/l and for the diesel automatic, less than 12 km/l.
