2023 Toyota GR Corolla Morizo Edition Revealed

Only 200 examples of the special edition are coming for the 2023 model year.

The Toyota GR Corolla is already a hotly anticipated hot hatch, and the company has now added to the hype by releasing the Morizo Edition. Getting one, however, may be difficult for purchasers because Toyota is only releasing 200 for the 2023 model year. Pricing is getting closer to being released.

The Morizo Edition retains the G16E-GTS 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, but torque is increased to 295 pound-feet (400 Newton-meters) from 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) in the standard and Circuit Editions. Because to the new tune, the Morizo’s peak torque is now available from 3,250 to 4,600 rpm, rather than the usual 3,000 to 5,500 rpm. The horsepower rating hasn’t changed. It’s still 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts). (dotnetcoretutorials.com)

The Morizo Edition keeps the six-speed manual transmission, but the gearing is shorter. This should result in faster acceleration at the expense of a lower top speed overall. Toyota has yet to provide these specifications for either this special model or the normal GR Corolla. The differential gear ratios have also been reduced.

The Morizo Edition has a curb weight of 3,186 pounds (1,445 kilogrammes), which is 106 pounds (48 kilogrammes) less than the GR Corolla Circuit Edition, which has a curb weight of 3,292 pounds (1,493 kilogrammes). The rear seats, rear speakers, rear window regulators, rear wiper blade, and rear wiper motor have all been removed from the diet.

The Morizo Edition rides on 18-inch forged aluminum wheels with a 10-spoke design, rather than the regular model’s cast alloy pieces. The special model also uses sticky 245/40 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires instead of the usual 235/40 Pilot Sport 4 rubber.

The outside of this vehicle has also been modified. Front brake cooling ducts are added to the front fascia. The rear spoiler on the Circuit Edition is smaller than the one on the regular edition. The Morizo Edition comes in a new Gray colour with a matte finish that is specific to this model. Also available is Windchill Pearl.

The Morizo Edition’s cabin is upholstered in a black-and-red colour scheme with a mix of Brin Naub imitation suede and synthetic leather. Two bracing in the back section provide additional structural support. There’s enough room in the rear for four tyres for a track day, according to Toyota.
