Hyundai To Launch Two All-New SUVs In India In Coming Months

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) recently introduced the facelifted Venue in the domestic market as part of its SUV portfolio expansion. The Venue’s lineup will be expanded further in the coming months with the introduction of the N Line variant, and Hyundai plans to release two more products in two different segments this calendar year.

Following that, the country’s second-largest automaker will release the new generation Tucson by the holiday season. The premium SUV will be available in India in a long-wheelbase variant that is more spacious than the Euro-spec model thanks to a wheelbase length of 2,756 mm. When compared to the previous model, it has a number of cosmetic and interior updates.

For nearly two years, the latest Tucson has been available in international markets. It adheres to the Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy, which is shared by the upcoming Creta facelift and the newly launched Venue. It has a new front grille with a parametric jewel pattern, new headlights and body panels, full-width LED tail lamps, squared-off wheel arches, new alloy wheels, and so on.

The interior of the upcoming Tucson has also been significantly updated, with a new dashboard and center console, a dual-screen layout with minimalistic physical buttons, the latest BlueLink connectivity, more upmarket surface finishes and trims, an automatic climate control system, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, ADAS technology, and so on.

It will continue to use 2.0-liter petrol and diesel engines with six-speed and eight-speed automatic transmission options. Following Tucson, Hyundai will introduce the Ioniq 5, the 2022 World Car of the Year, later this year, which will be built on the dedicated E-GMP platform. It will be imported via the CKD route, so expect it to be less expensive than its sibling, the Kia EV6.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 may be available in limited quantities when it arrives. In global markets, it is available with either a single or dual electric motor setup. The former has 169 bhp and 350 Nm of torque, while the latter has 306 bhp and 605 Nm of torque. It has a claimed driving range of 481km on WLTP cycle.
