Mahindra will launch XUV400 electric SUV on September 8 in India and it will likely be followed by the Bolero Neo Plus in the coming weeks

Mahindra recently launched the Scorpio N in the Indian market, with prices starting at Rs. 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It has been well received by customers, and Mahindra is preparing to launch the XUV400 early next month, riding the wave of momentum created by the Scorpio N. Another SUV appears to be in the works as well.

The Mahindra Scorpio Classic has only recently arrived in showrooms, and it is powered by a new 2.2-litre second-generation mHawk four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 132 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. The powertrain is said to be 55 kilogrammes lighter while providing 14% better fuel economy than the previous model.

The exterior receives minor cosmetic updates, and the cabin receives a slew of new features. The XUV400 electric SUV, a zero-emission version of the XUV300 compact SUV, will be launched by the homegrown SUV specialist. The X100 platform will be retained, but the overall length will be 200 mm longer.

It is also expected to have a larger touchscreen infotainment system with AdrenoX connectivity, as well as ADAS. It will compete directly against the Tata Nexon EV and will be powered by a single 150 hp electric motor. The driving range is expected to be around 400 km, and two battery options may be available.

The XUV400 is the production version of the eXUV300 concept shown at the Auto Expo, and it is expected to cost between Rs. 13-15 lakh. Mahindra’s biggest product assault will come under two sub-brands, XUV. (provigil) e and BE (Born Electric), with the introduction of five all-new e-SUVs based on the INGLO over the next few years.

The Bolero Neo Plus is another product that Mahindra is expected to launch in the coming weeks. It may be available in five variants and powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine. It is expected to receive an updated exterior and an improved feature list, as well as seating for up to 9 passengers.
