Jeep Reveals 2024 Recon, 2024 Wagoneer S, 2023 Avenger Electric SUVs

Jeep sees an electric future for automobiles, and the company has officially entered the fray. The automaker declared September 8th as 4xe Day and unveiled three all-new, all-electric SUVs that will go into production within the next two years. It’s part of a major electrification push that will see Jeep introduce four new EVs for North America and Europe by 2025. Jeep will be all-electric in Europe by 2030, and 50 percent electric in the United States.

The Jeep Recon and Jeep Wagoneer S are available for global markets, while the Jeep Avenger is only available in Europe. While these three SUVs have technically debuted, Jeep has only provided a few tidbits of information about each. As such, consider this an exterior-only introduction to what Jeep has in store for its future.

The Recon is arguably the most eye-catching of these three EVs. Jeep isn’t shy about comparing it to the Wrangler, both in terms of design and off-road capability. It has removable doors and a power top that opens with a single touch. Under the hood, Jeep claims trail-rated capability thanks to Jeep Selec-Terrain traction management, e-locker axle technology, and beefy off-road tyres. There are no other details about the batteries, motor arrangement, or performance, but we do know it rides on the Stellantis STLA large platform.

Despite the obvious similarities, Jeep Brand CEO Christian Meunier assured journalists during the company’s 4xe Day presentation that the Recon is not a replacement for the Wrangler. It will be manufactured in the United States and should go into production in 2024, with a slew of off-road accessories included at launch. Reservations for the Recon will be available in early 2023.

2024 Jeep Wagoneer S

Whereas the Recon is aimed at off-road enthusiasts, the sleek Wagoneer S is more akin to a bonkers Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. In fact, Jeep executives stated as much when discussing the company’s performance. The battery and motors, like the Recon, are unknown. However, Jeep promises a 0-60 mph sprint time of 3.5 seconds and a range of 400 miles per charge.

The Wagoneer S also rides on the STLA Large platform, and while it bears the Wagoneer badge, its appearance is more akin to the Grand Cherokee. Jeep promises generous interior space for the Wagoneer S, which slots into the midsize SUV segment as an EV from the ground up. It will also be built in the US and enter production in 2024, with reservations beginning early next year.

2023 Jeep Avenger

This small Jeep has been the subject of several spy shots in recent months. It is intended for the European market, but it will also be sold in Japan and South Korea, and it will be positioned below the Renegade in Jeep’s lineup. Jeep isn’t ready to share details, as it was with the Wagoneer S and Recon, but it will arrive before its larger siblings.

The full, official debut is scheduled for October 17 at the Paris Motor Show, and it will be available for purchase in early 2023.

Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4xe, Future EV Teaser

Jeep said four new electric vehicles would be available in Europe and North America by 2025. Three are revealed here, leaving one for which we have no information. Jeep did, however, mention that an announcement of some sort was planned for the Detroit Auto Show. In addition, Jeep North America CEO Jim Morrison teased a Grand Wagoneer 4xe hybrid with a 500-mile range. It’s unclear when that SUV will be available, but with media days for the Detroit Auto Show less than a week away, expect more details soon.
