The implementation of RDE rules is only a few weeks away, and automakers are already making preparations to align with the new standards. Honda has already retired the diesel-powered Amaze and City, and Hyundai has now followed suit by retiring the diesel-powered i20. On the other hand, the Hyundai Venue lineup is expected to undergo some significant alterations.

The first significant alteration is a new tune-up for the diesel engine. Only the i20 and Venue are currently driven by the fixed geometry turbocharged version of Hyundai’s 1.5-litre diesel engine, while the Verna and Creta are powered by the variable geometry turbocharged version of the same engine.

However, since that the i20 diesel is no longer available, Hyundai plans to update the Venue’s diesel powertrain and release the VGT version of the diesel for the subcompact SUV. It indicates that the 2023 Venue diesel will sport a 1.5-litre diesel engine with 115 PS and 250 Nm of torque.

The Hyundai Venue 2023 will also have innovations such as an integrated starter generator, which will give the SUV an idle start-stop mechanism. It is the same function that is present in Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra cars, and the Venue will be the first Hyundai product to have it.

It is also believed that the 2019 Hyundai Venue would come standard with side airbags. With this change, the Hyundai Venue will have four airbags as standard across its lineup, up from dual front airbags as normal and side and curtain airbags exclusively in the top-tier SX(O) model.

Hyundai Venue has been substantially upgraded.

In June 2022, the Hyundai Venue underwent a full makeover that included a new front fascia and updated tail lights with an LED connecting bar. It also got things like a motorised driver’s seat and LED projector headlights.

With these suggested upgrades, the 2019 Hyundai Venue will be an even better competitor to competitors such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, and even the future Maruti Suzuki Fronx.

In addition to the 1.5-liter diesel engine, the Hyundai Venue has two petrol powertrain options. The 1.2-liter 83 PS naturally-aspirated petrol engine with a 5-speed manual transmission is standard on lower and mid-spec models. The higher-spec models are powered by a 1.0-litre 120 PS turbocharged petrol engine with 6-speed iMT or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox options.
