Honda Transalp 750 Coming Soon In India

A Honda Transalp 750 has 755cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine producing 92 horsepower at 9,500 rpm and 75 Nm at 7,250 rpm powers . In general, Honda’s large motorcycles in India produce slightly less power than their equivalents elsewhere; it is unclear if this will also be the case in this country.

This mill is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox that has a bi-directional quickshifter and a slip-and-assist clutch. This new 270-degree parallel-twin bike is nested within a diamond steel frame that is suspended by a USD fork and monoshock setup that are both manufactured by Showa and have preload adjustability.

With a curb weight of about 208 kg, it’s going to be among the lightest large-capacity ADV bikes available in the nation. 90/90-21 (front) and 150/70-R18 (rear) tubed wire-spoke rims support the weight of the Transalp. Although there is a low seat option that lowers the seat height to a more accessible 820mm, the standard seat height is 850mm. It will be interesting to see if Honda plans to provide a lower seat version of the Africa Twin as standard in India, as they have done with the Africa Twin.

A vast array of electronic rider aids is available, including five riding modes (4 preset, 1 customisable), four engine power modes, five traction control levels, three levels of engine braking and two levels of ABS. If you choose to, you can switch traction control and rear ABS off.

Expected pricing for the Honda translap 750 is between Rs 10.50 lakh and 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India), which places it in the vicinity of bigger rivals such as the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport (Rs 11.95 lakh) and the BMW F 850 GS (Rs 12.95 lakh). However, the Transalp competes with them in terms of peak output figures (85 hp/82 nm on the Triumph and 95 hp/92 nm on the BMW) while being lighter than both.

Considering that the Transalp 750 is sold for a very low price abroad, this pricing seems excessive. The Transalp will cost a little more in India than it does elsewhere, though, because it will arrive through the CBU route.
