Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Details Officially Revealed

The “Sherpa 450,” Royal Enfield’s first ultra-modern liquid-cooled engine, makes its debut in the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. This 451.65-cc engine produces 40 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm and 40 horsepower at 8,000 rpm. With those numbers, it’s the most powerful single-cylinder engine in India. A 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch is attached to this new powerplant.

This engine is housed in an entirely redesigned twin-spar frame that is supported by a Showa-supplied USD fork with an open cartridge and preload-adjustable monoshock. Both ends of the vehicle have 200mm of wheel travel, and the ground clearance is an amazing 230mm. The Himalayan rides on wire-spoke 21/17-inch wheels (F/R) that are covered in exclusive CEAT rubber. The front and rear tyre sizes are 90/90-21 and 140/80-R17, respectively.

With the regular seat, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 seat height is between 825 and 845 mm; with the lower seat installed, this number drops to 805-825 mm. When the Himalayan’s 17-liter fuel tank is completely full, it weighs 198 kg, a substantial difference from competitors like the KTM 390 Adventure SW (177 kg).

A single 320mm disc up front and a 270mm disc at the rear are responsible for providing braking power, while ByBre provides all of the hardware. Standard equipment includes dual-channel ABS, which is deactivatable at the back.

There are three different colour possibilities for the Himalayan. The mid-spec Pass variant is offered in Slate Himalayan Slat or Slate Poppy Blue, while the top-spec Summit variant is offered in Kamet White or Hanle Black. The base variant only comes with the Kaza Brown option.

Additionally, the Himalayan 450 introduces Royal Enfield’s first color TFT dash, which pairs via Bluetooth with your smartphone. This Royal Enfield is unique in that it features three riding modes: Eco, Performance (with rear ABS on), and Performance (without rear ABS). The Himalayan comes standard with all-LED illumination, and like some high-end BMW and Harley-Davidson motorcycles, the taillight is integrated into the rear indicators.
