Car Price in Nepal: Tata Safari worth one crore! Why are Indian Cars so Expensive in Nepal and Pakistan?

Vehicles made in India are sold in many countries around the world. Many Indian automakers’ cars are very popular in other countries. Many car manufacturers in the Indian market export their vehicles to Nepal. However, vehicles in the neighbouring country are so heavily taxed that the same car costs three times as much as it does in India. In addition, a variety of cars sold in the Indian market are available in Pakistan. However, the prices of the same cars in Pakistan will astound you.

1. Tata Safari

For example, the Tata Safari (Tata Safari) price in India ranges from Rs 15.35 to Rs 23.56 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the price of this three-row SUV in Nepal can reach Rs 63.56 lakh. This means that the Tata Safari in Nepal is roughly 2.7 times more expensive than in India. Not only that, but the 6-seater and 7-seater SUVs start at NPR 81.99 lakhs and go all the way up to NPR 1 crore. In this way, the Tata Safari sells for more than four times the price in Nepal.

2. KIA Sonet

The Kia Sonet (Kia Sonet), which starts at Rs 7.49 Lakh ex-showroom in India, is available in Nepal for NPR 36.90 Lakh, which roughly translates to Rs 23.10 Lakh in Indian currency. It should be noted that high-end imported vehicles in Nepal may be subject to a total tax of up to 298 %.

3. Vitara Brezza

Maruti-Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza (Vitara Brezza) is sold in nepal for a price of more than Rs 43 lakhs. Vitara Brezza price in india starts from ₹ 7.99 Lakh and goes up to ₹ 13.96 Lakh.

4. Tata Nexon

Tata Nexon (Tata Nexon), India’s best-selling subcompact SUV car, starts at NPR 36.99 lakhs in Nepal. While the starting ex-showroom price of this car in India is 7.59 lakhs, it can be purchased for as much as Rs 13.95 lakhs. At the same time, the Tata Nexon XZA+ has the highest price in Nepal. For NPR 53.90 lakhs, it is sold in Nepal. This is Nexon’s top model, and it has a sunroof. This variant’s ex-showroom price in India is Rs 11.44 lakh. This car is also sold for more than four times the price in Nepal.

Pakistani Automobile Industry

When it comes to the Pakistani automobile industry, Suzuki offers a variety of cars that are also available in India, such as the Alto (Alto), Wagon R (Wagon R), and Swift (Swift). Alto price in Pakistan begins at PKR 14.75 Lakh, which is roughly Rs 6 Lakh in Indian currency. Wagon R price in Pakistan starts at PKR 20.84 Lakh, which is roughly Rs 8.47 Lakh.

Furthermore, the Pakistan-spec Wagon R is the last-generation model, whereas the new-generation Wagon R has been on the market in India for more than three years. The latest generation Wagon R model was also recently launched in India. Furthermore, the Alto sold in Pakistan is based on the Japanese-spec Kei (Kei) car and comes with a 658cc engine producing 39 PS.

Swift, on the other hand, is priced at PKR 27.74 Lakh, which roughly translates to Rs 11.28 Lakh in Indian currency. In comparison, the Maruti Suzuki Alto starts at Rs 3.39 lakh in India, while the Wagon R and Swift start at Rs 5.47 lakh and Rs 5.92 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom). This shows that the price of these cars in the Indian market is nearly twice as high.
