Maruti Suzuki topped the sales charts in August 2022 and sold a total of 1,34,166 units, compared to 1,42,850 units in the month before, July 2022, with a negative MoM sales growth of 6%. Since the beginning of the current year, the brand has launched a number of new models.
Hyundai came in second with a domestic cumulative tally of 49,510 units, down from 50,500 units in July 2022. A YoY volume de-growth of 1.9% resulted as a result. The new generation Tucson was introduced by the South Korean auto giant in 2022, while the Venue N Line (whose launch on September 6 has been confirmed), Ioniq 5 electric vehicle, and facelifted Kona Electric are expected to be introduced in the remaining months of the current calendar year.

Tata Motors maintained its impressive sales record, registering 47,170 units compared to 47,506 units in July 2022, with a positive MoM volume increase of 0.7%. Recently, the domestic auto giant introduced the Jet Editions of the Nexon, Nexon EV, Safari, and Harrier, and last month it reported the highest individual monthly sales of the Nexon and Punch.
Mahindra has been moving forward as a result of recent launches. Recently, the SUV manufacturer debuted the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic. With a positive MoM volume jump of 6.4%, Mahindra sold 29,852 units in the month of August 2022 compared to 28,053 units in the month of July 2022.
Toyota came in sixth with 14,959 units against 19,693 units in July 2022 with a negative growth of 24%, while Kia India came in fifth with 22,322 units against 22,022 units with a MoM growth of 1.3%. With 7,769 units sold as opposed to 6,784 units, a 14.5% volume increase, Honda came in seventh place.
With 7,012 units sold in July 2022 compared to 7,128 in July 2022, Renault India came in eighth, with Skoda, MG, Nissan, Volkswagen, FCA, and Citroen filling the other spots.
