Aggregators To Add 50% EVs In Their Fleet By March 2023
By March 2023, the Delhi government, led by Kejriwal, has mandated all taxi aggregators and delivery service providers in the city to ensure that 50% of all new two-wheelers and 25% of all new four-wheelers in their fleet are electric. Kailash Gahlot, the Delhi Transport Minister, took to Twitter to announce another first-of-its-kind initiative for electric vehicles, which is intended to provide the aggregator sector the push it needs to become more environmentally friendly. According to Gahlot on Saturday, the notification will be delivered once the process of considering objections is concluded after a 60-day period.
Official Statement

On Twitter, he stated, “Another first for Delhi in EVs-aggregators and delivery service providers to ensure that 50% of all new 2 wheelers and 25% of all new 4 wheelers are electric by March 2023. Notification is to be issued once the process of evaluating objections is completed at end of 60 days period. Soon Transport Department shall hold consultations with all stakeholders to finalise the modalities.” The initial notification has not yet been made public, but it will be soon through the Delhi government’s website. For around 60 days, the government will accept public opinions. It will then be reviewed and, if necessary, modified before being made available for implementation. Within three months following notification of the final policy, 10% of new two-wheelers and 5% of new four-wheelers will have to be electric vehicles, according to the draught aggregators policy. According to a senior government official who asked not to be identified, 50% of all new two-wheelers and 25% of all new four-wheelers used by aggregators and delivery services will have to be electric.
Goverment Orders
Gahlot had earlier pushed fleet owners to switch half of their fleets to electric vehicles by 2023. The minister also asked CV owners to switch to completely electric vehicle fleets by 2025 as part of the ‘Switch Delhi’ campaign. As of Saturday, the Delhi government had registered 130,544 electric vehicles, which is the second-highest number among all states and UTs. In addition, during the September-November quarter, a total of 9,540 electric vehicles were sold in Delhi. In September, 2,873 electric vehicles were sold, followed by 3,275 in October and 3,392 in November.
