Kia recently announced that its first EV for India would be an electric version of the Carens. However, we do know that an electric Seltos is in the works, and the impending Kia EV3 SUV offers a preview of what’s to come in the future.
The EV3 was shown in concept form in October and has the same dimensions as the Seltos, as well as a profile similar to its ICE counterpart. The concept car’s cabin is minimalist, with a one-piece display serving as the centre of control and a set of toggle switches for climate control and other functions. Kia has finished out the cabin in a lovely shade of beige, a tint popular in regions such as India, and the floor is entirely flat for maximum interior space.
Electric Seltos: Teaser Images
The teaser pics show the design of the headlamps and taillights. Unsurprisingly, both are vertically constructed with practically interchangeable components. The teaser pictures suggest that the production-ready model will keep the concept car’s design and size.
Electric Seltos: Made in India
Given that India is one of the global production hubs for the Seltos, we expect that the EV3 will be assembled at their Anantapur plant. If not for exports, then at least, the supply for the Indian market will be locally put together. However, we expect that components for the same will be sourced from India for global markets.
