It goes on sale this October.
Video games can only simulate a portion of the driving experience. Yes, it’s thrilling to pilot million-dollar supercars around the world’s most famous race tracks, but doing so with your feet up and a bowl of chips next to you on the couch feels a little bit like cheating. Racing seats and cockpit setups elevate the experience, and a new Next Level Racing setup brings a touch of the Ford GT into the gaming room.
NLR and Ford Motor Company’s esports division, Team Fordzilla, have collaborated to create a licenced gaming rig. It’s called the GTElite Ford GT Edition cockpit, and it includes several nods to the Blue Oval’s iconic supercar. It has a blue anodized aluminium frame that has been finished in Ford’s iconic brand colour. The frame is adorned with laser-etched Ford GT branding, twin GT stripes, and Blue Oval badges.
The entire rig is highly adjustable, allowing you to find the ideal racing position. This includes the shock-absorbing feet that can be adjusted in height. Racers can even adjust the height, distance, and angle of the pedals for maximum comfort. According to NLR, the setup is compatible with all major wheel, shifter, and pedal manufacturers, including Fanatec, Logitec, Thrustmaster, Moza, and others.
As the rig and seat are sold separately, NLR and Team Fordzilla also offer a branded racing seat. The ES1 Ford GT seat comes with a Team Fordzilla-branded four-point racing harness and a floor mat. The GT logo is even embossed into the headrest of the seat.
The rig and seat are sold separately and will be available in October. According to the website, the rig and rails will cost $799, with the seat costing an additional $499. It’s not a cheap addition to one’s gaming setup, but it does improve the racing experience. You can build your own first to see if you like racing with such a setup. It won’t look as good in your living room, but it’s better to get a feel for it first. Oh, and it’s also a good idea to make sure it fits.
