Gurpratap Boparai Joins M&M In New Global Leadership Position
Gurpratap Boparai, the former Managing Director of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, has joined Mahindra Group in a new leadership role. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director – Auto and Farm Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra, divulged the information in a social media post. “We are happy to welcome Gurpratap Boparai to Mahindra – in what promises to be a very fascinating role,” he added. While Jejurikar did not specify Boparai’s specific position inside the firm, he is said to be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mahindra’s Automotive Business in Europe, which includes brands like as Automobili Pininfarina and Peugeot Motocycles.
Gurpratap Boparai Past Experience
On December 15, 2021, Gurpratap Boparai announced his retirement from Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, and he formally resigned on January 1, 2022. Boparai oversaw the group’s India 2.0 strategy, which saw both Volkswagen and Skoda Auto India spend extensively in the nation to produce vehicles in India, for India, after nearly three years with the firm. The firm just announced that Piyush Arora will take over as the next MD, succeeding Boparai. Prior to VW Group, Boparai served as the CEO of Fiat India from 2012. He joined Fiat in 2007 as the Assistant VP for Manufacturing and Powertrain division and two years later went on to head the powertrain division. Boparai has also worked with companies such as TELCO (now Tata Motors), Ocap Chassis Parts, Iveco and Tata Cummins and has an experience that spans more than 25 years.
