Ampere Nexus Launched At Rs 1.10 Lakh

Greaves Electric Mobility’s two-wheeler brand Ampere has unveiled its first luxury electric scooter, the Ampere Nexus, with starting prices ranging from Rs 1.10 lakh to Rs 1.20 lakh (ex showroom). The Nexus, which is not eligible for central subsidies under the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS), comes in two variants: the standard EX (Rs 1.10 lakh) and the top-spec ST (Rs 1.20 lakh), as well as four colours: Zanskar Aqua, Lunar White, Indian Red, and Steel Grey. These costs will increase by Rs 10,000 after the promotional deal expires. The Nexus, previewed by the Ampere NXG prototype, is the most feature-rich Ampere e-scooter ever, significantly outperforming the Primus, which it basically replaces in the lineup.

While the Nexus keeps some design and style cues from the NXG, it does away with some of the concept’s showfloor flourishes, such as the single-sided swing arm, which is replaced by a normal swing arm. The Nexus follows the tried-and-true model of a family-friendly electric scooter, with a telescopic fork and twin rear shock absorbers.

The form factor is also similar to that of other Ampere scooters, with the scooter’s seat measuring 712 mm in length and 765 mm in height. All-LED lighting is standard. The scooter’s wheelbase is 1,319 mm long, with 170 mm of ground clearance and 235 mm of floorboard area.

The Nexus comes standard with a front disc brake (drum brake in the back) and 12-inch alloy wheels (shod with 90-section tires), but the ST has a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, while the EX has a 6.2-inch segmented LCD. The Nexus also has buttons to operate the turn signs instead of traditional switches, and the Nexus ST has music controls and charging data.

Ampere claims that the Nexus has a certified range of up to 136 kilometers. Charging time is estimated at 3 hours and 30 minutes, however a fast charger will be available as an alternative.
