Maruti Suzuki Swift Becomes Best-Selling Car In India In 2023

Maruti Suzuki Swift outsold the Maruti Suzuki WagonR and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno to become India’s best-selling car in the calendar year 2023. Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest automaker, sold 203,500 Swifts in CY23.

The Swift ranges in price from Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.03 lakh (ex-showroom). However, Maruti has already announced a price increase across its whole portfolio in January.

Maruti Suzuki Swift The Best-selling Car

The Swift is powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series Dual-Jet Dual-VVT petrol engine that produces 89.7PS and 113Nm of peak torque. It can be combined with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic transmission. There is also a CNG variant (77.5PS and 98.5Nm) with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The new Swift is anticipated to be launched in India in 2024, and it has already been spotted testing here. The new model was first shown as a ‘concept’ at the Japan Mobility Show 2023, but it appeared to be nearly ready for production.

Shashank Srivastava, Maruti’s Senior Executive Officer for Marketing and Sales, recently told India that the manufacturer will maintain its aggressiveness in terms of new product introductions, full and minor model revisions, and upgrades in 2024.
