F1 2022 : McLaren Unleashes The Bold MCL36
McLaren was always going to be one of the teams to surprise with some radical new ideas for the 2022 season, and it has delivered. The MCL26, its competitor for the world title in 2022, has been created over the course of three spectacular seasons, in which it has finished fourth in the constructor’s championship twice and third once. It’s also the first automobile entirely created under the supervision of James Key, the company’s technical director, and it’s stunning.

McLaren Features A Pull Rod Suspension
The MCL36 is a daring interpretation of the FIA’s ground effect aerodynamic rules for the new age of Formula One, which allows for greater overtaking. It’s the first of the four cars revealed to have a front-end pull rod suspension and a rear-end pushrod suspension. It also features very aggressively packed side pods, which contrasts sharply with what Aston Martin has revealed, despite the fact that both teams will be using the same new Mercedes powertrain.
The vehicle was unveiled at the Woking facility in the company of Lando Norris, who recently extended his contract through 2025, and Daniel Ricciardo, who has also extended his contract until 2023. Andreas Seidl, the team’s principal, and Zak Brown, the CEO of McLaren Racing, were both present.
There’s also a new livery that borrows from the one-off special Monaco GP livery with Gulf oil, with blue hues added to McLaren’s papaya and more black shade blended in. McLaren also unveiled the 2022 Indy Car and announced the introduction of its Extreme E vehicle.

CEO Zak Brown said, “I’m delighted to see us launch all three McLaren Racing programmes across the Formula 1, IndyCar and Extreme E championships today. This is a first for us as a team, and in the wider world of motorsport, and it’s been fantastic to see how excited the fans have been as they get ready to join us on the next part of our journey.”
Team principal Andreas Seidl further added, “Our Formula 1 team continues to make great progress year-on-year with Andreas Seidl [team principal] at the helm, and this new era of regulations represents a real opportunity for the team. I’m excited to see Lando and Daniel get behind the wheel of the MCL36 and take it to the competition this year. Lando made great progress in 2021, scoring four podiums, and Daniel’s sensational victory in Monza reminded the team what it feels like to win again. As we head into 2022, we’re looking to build on that progress and further close the gap to the teams at the front.”
