Bugatti’s Chiron is a success. The French automaker has sold all 500 of the model’s and variants’ build slots. Even the pre-series model, the one-off Chiron Profilee, has been sold – and for a pretty, absolutely gorgeous penny.
The Bugatti Chiron Profilee was auctioned off in France for 9,792,500 euros, or $10,761,223 at current exchange rates. This price does not include VAT, which brings the total to 12 million euros, or more than $13 million. Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti-Rimac, claims that the Profilee has set a new world record for the most expensive new car sold at auction.
The one-of-a-kind Bugatti Chiron Profilee sits between the standard Chiron and the Chiron Pur Sport. Its development began in 2020, but despite Bugatti’s knowledge that it would not be a series vehicle, the automaker pushed through and completed the project.
Powered by Bugatti’s quad-turbocharged W16 engine, the Chiron Profilee produces an impressive 1,476 horsepower (1,100 kilowatts). This beast of a hypercar boasts impressive acceleration, reaching 62 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour) in just 2.3 seconds. It can reach a top speed of 236 mph (380 km/h) and features stiffer springs and a rear axle with increased negative camber in comparison to the Pur Sport.
The Chiron Profilee also has a distinct design, with larger front air intakes, a redesigned front splitter that improves front axle downforce, and an enlarged horseshoe grille. The car’s body is finished in a Bleu Royal Carbon tint, with the carbon fibre exposed, and the wheels are painted differently to distinguish them from any other Chiron. Over 8,200 feet (2,500 metres) of leather strips are used to create a woven leather finish on the interior of the car.
The Chiron Profilee is as exclusive as the La Voiture Noire, if not more so, because it is the very last brand-new Bugatti with a W16 engine.
