Industrialist Rahul Bajaj Passes Away
Rahul Bajaj, a veteran businessman and Padma Bhushan awardee, Pass on Saturday in a Pune hospital. He was 83 years old. According to reports, the Bajaj patriarch was suffering with pneumonia as well as a heart condition. According to Dr. Purvez Grant, the managing trustee at Ruby Hall Clinic, he has been at the hospital for the last month. Rahul Bajaj will be cremated with full state honours on Sunday. The passing of the Bajaj leader, who served as the head of the Bajaj Group for over 40 years, was lamented by both businessmen and politicians.

A statement from Bajaj Group
According to a statement from the Bajaj Group, “It is with deep sorrow that I inform you about the passing away of Shri Rahul Bajaj, husband of the late Rupa Bajaj and father of Rajiv/Deepa, Sanjiv/Shefali and Sunaina/Manish. He passed away on the afternoon of 12th February 2022 in the presence of his closest family members.”
In April 2021, Rahul Bajaj retired as Chairman of Bajaj Auto and became Chairman Emeritus of the firm. In 2001, he received the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian honour. Between 2006 to 2010, he was a member of the Rajya Sabha. In 1965, Rahul Bajaj succeeded his father, independence warrior Jamnalal Bajaj, as head of the Bajaj Group. He proceeded to take the firm to new heights in several sectors, the most notable of which was the two-wheeler industry. He divided Bajaj Auto into three divisions in 2008: Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Finserv, and a holding company. Rajiv and Sanjiv Bajaj, his sons, are now in charge of the company’s day-to-day operations.
Several leaders shared their condolences
Several world leaders and public figures expressed their sorrow. In a letter from President Ram Nath Kovind, he wrote: “Saddened to learn of Shri Rahul Bajaj’s demise. A doyen of Indian industry, he was passionate about its priorities. His career reflected the rise and innate strength of the nation’s corporate sector. His death leaves a void in the world of industry. My condolences to his family.”
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote, “Very sad news of the death of the country’s famous industrialist Rahul Bajaj ji. He made a big contribution to the progress of the country on the economic front. ‘Buland Bharat Ki Buland Awaz’ became a part of every household. My heartfelt tribute to such a great personality. May the Lord place the departed soul at his feet.”
