Skoda Kylaq To Debut On November 6

Skoda has revealed that on November 6, production-spec versions of the forthcoming Kylaq compact SUV, which is expected to go on sale globally in early 2025, will make their world premiere. This will be the first model under Skoda’s India 2.5 strategy, the third product on the MQB-A0-IN platform, and the company’s first attempt at entering the small SUV market.

Additionally, this validates our tip from earlier in the month that the Kylaq will go into production in October. According to sources, Skoda plans to produce between 50,000 and 70,000 cars a year. For greater economies of scale, the Kylaq will first be offered domestically before being exported at a later time.

The company claims that the Kylaq will be the first model to introduce the brand’s “Modern Solid” design language with traditional SUV qualities to India, despite early teasers and sketches suggesting a familiar Skoda design language. Thus, it is reasonable to anticipate certain design cues from the recently revealed Skoda Elroq concepts. The Kylaq will have a broad grille with vertical slats and split headlamps. In order to fit under the vital four-meter length, the small SUV will feature tighter front and back overhangs and a somewhat shorter wheelbase than the Kushaq.

The only 1.0-liter, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine with 115 horsepower and 178 Nm will power the Kylaq. It will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Brezza are expected to be significant competitors. The Kylaq’s pricing will be important, and we anticipate that the brand will take use of the MQB A0 IN platform, which is already extensively localized, to aggressively price the Kylaq from the outset.
