What Is ADAS Technology | Functions of ADAS Technology

With the mid-size SUV sector automobiles, ADAS functions are becoming more and more popular. Some of these could be found in the future Hyundai Creta and Seltos.

What Is ADAS Technology

With time, luxury features make their way down to mass market items, and these major characteristics of ADAS technology are no exception. A few years ago, MG was one of the first carmakers to provide ADAS technology in its premium full-size SUV, the Gloster. However, with its most recent mid-size SUV, the Astor has completely altered the sector and is posing a significant threat to the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The revised versions of the Creta and Seltos, which are set for a facelift this year, will have to include these features. So let’s talk about the most prominent functions of ADAS technology.

List Of Functions of ADAS Technology

ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance System) is a term that refers to the use of electronics in a vehicle to assist the driver by taking some of the strain off of him or her. We’ve seen a lot of car accidents that could have been avoided easily if the driver had responded quickly. Even before the driver could grasp the situation, these functions may react in a fraction of a second and take corrective action. These are some of the most popular features.

Automatic Emergency Braking:

As the name implies, this feature automatically applies the brakes if it determines that they are needed and the driver is unresponsive. The sensors in the car’s front, side, and rear capture real-time data on the vehicle’s surroundings. They notify the driver as soon as they discover an obstruction. If the driver fails to respond in a timely manner, the electronics will apply the brakes to bring the vehicle to a complete stop.

Lane Keep Assist/Lane Departure Warning:

This feature uses radar and sensors to scan the lane lines on the road and informs the driver if he is crossing the lane. The car’s electronics will automatically direct it towards the lane’s center. Similarly, if the driver wishes to overtake and cross the lane, a warning sign will appear if a vehicle is in the adjacent lane.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC):

It is essentially a more advanced and intelligent version of the standard cruise control available in other vehicles. Regardless of whether traffic in front of you accelerates or brakes, the automobile will maintain a set pace. The vehicle is capable of slowing or increasing speed without the need for human intervention.

Driver Drowsiness Detection:

Cars monitor the driver’s vital signs, such as head tilt and eye movement, to see if he or she is nodding off behind the wheel. If the system recognizes this, an alarm will sound to alert the driver. Certain feedback on the steering wheel may be included in some cars to keep the driver alert. If the driver does not respond, the automobile will come to a stop on its own.
