Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid Launched in India at Rs 1.45 Lakh

Yamaha has released the FZ-S Fi Hybrid in India, priced at Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom). This is Yamaha’s first motorcycle to utilize hybrid technology, which has previously been available on a few other two-wheelers from Yamaha India. These include scooters like the Ray and the Fascino. Furthermore, the FZ-S Fi Hybrid receives a few new features over the previous FZ-S versions, as well as ergonomic improvements.

While the FZ-S continues to be powered by a 149 cc engine (OBD-2B compliant), it also includes Yamaha’s ‘Smart Motor Generator’ system, which provides an additional boost to the motorcycle via an integrated starter generator. The motorcycle also has a stop-and-start system (SSS), which automatically turns off the engine while it is motionless and allows for a quick restart by pressing the clutch. The engine produces 12.3 horsepower and 13.3 Nm of torque.

Another significant modification is the inclusion of a new 4.2-inch full-color TFT instrument cluster that connects to the smartphone via the Y-Connect app. The system also includes turn-by-turn (TBT) navigation via Google Maps.

While the FZ-S Fi Hybrid is cosmetically identical to the other models, a few adjustments have been made to improve ergonomics. For example, Yamaha claims that the motorcycle’s handlebar position has been slightly changed to improve comfort, and that the switches, including the horn switch, have been adjusted to make them easier to operate. Additionally, the fuel tank now has a new cap that stays attached while refueling. The FZ-S Fi Hybrid is available in two colours: racing blue and cyan metallic grey.
