The €16.7 million ($16.5 million) Bugatti La Voiture Noire is one of the most expensive cars ever created, and given its price, one could understand why its owner would keep it locked away in a climate-controlled garage and never drive it. That is not what they have done.
The insane creation recently took part in a Supercar Owners Circle event in Croatia, where it was driven on public roads and at an airstrip. It’s quite a sight to behold, and we think the owner should be commended for allowing the world to see the one-of-a-kind hypercar. (trilogymedicalcenter)
Shortly after the La Voiture Noire was revealed to the world in 2019, rumours flew about who owned it. According to some reports, it was purchased by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo, while others speculate that it was purchased by former Volkswagen chairman Ferdinand Piech. However, the couple driving the car in the video are most likely the true owners.
Bugatti drew inspiration for the La Voiture Noire from the Type 57 SC Atlantic. While it is based on the’regular’ Chiron, the bodywork is completely new and unlike any other Bugatti. The major changes begin at the front end, where there is distinctive bodywork with new LED headlights and a hood with numerous small holes.
The rear of the La Voiture Noire is arguably its most striking feature. For starters, there are six distinct tailpipes, and the vehicle also features a full-width LED light bar.
Under the hood is the same 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine found in the Chiron, producing 1,479 hp and 1,180 lb-ft (1,600 Nm) of torque.
There’s no doubt that the La Voiture Noire is special. But do you think it’s worth $16.5 million? After all, that is more than triple the price of a Bugatti Bolide, a car that is far more extreme and has undergone far more modifications than the Chiron.
