After teasing the upcoming premium sportbike for many days with key details about its looks, Suzuki is all geared up to launch the 2021 Hayabusa in India. The company has also shared a video of the model today. There are massive upgrades in all departments over the last-gen model. It was discontinued due to strict BS6 rules. So let’s take a look at what the riders get in the motorcycle:-
2021 Suzuki Hayabusa: Design
For starters, the 2021 Hayabusa features sharper and more angular new styling while still keeping the silhouette of the past-gen models. It also comes with full-LED lighting for the headlamp, tail lamp, and turn signals that make it look futuristic. To match its overall aggressive stance, changes in tank design are done. The Bike also gets new seven-spoke alloy wheels. The newly designed longer exhausts are also chrome plated. Its instrument cluster gets features such as bigger and bolder numbering on an analog tachometer and speedometer to improve readability as well as backlit raised scale markings on the periphery. It also gets a new TFT LCD panel that is mounted in the center. There are over 24 accessories available; such as a touring screen, single-seat cowling, carbon rearview mirror, Grip heater, Chrome plated filler cap, etc.
2021 Suzuki Hayabusa: Engine and Performance
A new 1340cc, inline-four engine powers the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa. It makes 188bhp of maximum power at 9700 rpm and 150 Nm torque at 7000 rpm. It comes with a six-speed gearbox. One can expect the new Hayabusa to give an overall fuel efficiency of around 15kmpl. The KYB inverted cartridge forks provide 120 mm of front wheel travel and feature Diamond-like Carbon (DLC) coating on 43 mm outer diameter inner fork tubes to reduce friction and improve reaction to small irregularities in the road surface. The front wheels come with 320 mm diameter brake discs featuring a new hole pattern to improve cooling efficiency. The Tires are also designed by working closely with Bridgestone to meet the needs of Hayabusa. Factoring in all these things, the Hayabusa is capable to attain a top speed of 300kmph.
2021 Suzuki Hayabusa: Technological Advancements
The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa comes with Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) which has Suzuki Drive Mode Selector Alpha (SDMS-a). Also, a six-axis Bosch Inertial Management Unit combines accelerometers and gyroscopes in a package. This constantly monitors the pitch, roll, and yaw movements of the bike.
The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa also comes with Launch Control System, Active Speed Limiter, Cruise Control System, Emergency Stop Signal, Motion Track Brake System, Slope Dependent Control system, and Hill Hold Control System. You can get to know more about these features here.
The SIRS system provides five advanced electronic control systems to enable riders for selecting individual settings for each. The systems are-
Power Mode Selector – Enables rider to select between three different engine output modes, which control the power delivery to match with road and riding conditions.
Anti-Lift Control System – Maximizes acceleration while preventing wheel lifting off from ground. There are 10 mode settings.
Bi-directional Quick Shift System – Allows shifting gears up and down without needing to operate clutch or throttle. There is a new assist and slipper clutch to ensure smoother shifts.
Engine Brake Control System – Cancels out the effect of engine braking to suppress rear tire sliding or skipping and provide smoother, more controllable behavior. The rider gets a choice of three modes plus an OFF setting to control the strength of engine braking.
Motion Track Traction Control System – Takes data from IMU and constantly monitors the amount of lean angle and effectively limits slip in corners as well as on straightaways. Comes with 10 mode settings and an OFF setting.
Price
The expected price of the model is between Rs. 15-18 Lakh, which is more premium over the previous-gen model’s Rs. 13.7 Lakh price. The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa will rival premium sports bikes such as Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R.
