2023 Jeep Wrangler gets 2 New Colours with Weird Names

The latest Jeep Wrangler must compete with the all-new Ford Bronco. The Wrangler isn’t getting any major improvements right now, but Jeep is adding two new hues to the SUV for 2023: Earl and Reign. The two should assist Jeep in maintaining its sales edge over the Bronco.

Purple returns to the Wrangler for Reign, having last graced the off-boxy roader’s sheetmetal on the Wrangler JK in 2018. After receiving “a lot of great feedback” on the 2020 Gladiator Farout concept, Jeep decided to put Earl into production. Earl may seem an unusual name for a colour, particularly grey, but Earl Grey tea actually exist.

“We work hard to deliver what our customers tell us they want,” said Jim Morrison, Jeep’s North American senior vice president and general manager. Colors like Earl and Reign, according to Morrison, are appealing to aficionados who want to stand apart.

The two new hues will be available on Jeep’s Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, 4xe, 392, and Freedom Edition models. Earl is now available for order for the entire 2023 model year for an additional $395. Jeep will produce a limited number of Reigns, which will be available for order until October for an additional $495.

Earl and Reign are the latest in a long line of distinctively named hues introduced by Jeep on its cars. Jeep added the limited-edition Gobi Tan hue to the 2022 Gladiator and Wrangler colour palette earlier this year. Tuscadero Pink has been added as a Wrangler colour option for 2021.

Colors like Firecracker Red, Sarge Green, and High Velocity will have to make way for Earl and Reign, at least for a limited time. The rest of the Wrangler color palette includes Hydro Blue, Silver Zynith, Sting Gray, Granite Crystal, Black, and Bright White. Would you rather have Earl, Reign, or something else entirely?
