Skoda-Volkswagen Reached 15 Lakh Units Production In India

Since 2009, the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Group has produced more over 15 million vehicles at its Chakan, Pune factory. The facility has produced various vehicles, including the Skoda Fabia, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Vento, and all of the later models based on the MQB platform.

The MQB-A0-IN platform is now used in a number of models, including the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia, as well as the Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun. These models alone have contributed more than three lakh units to the overall manufacturing milestone. Furthermore, the Chakan facility has manufactured 3.8 lakh engines, including the best-selling 1.0-litre TSI engine.

Furthermore, the Volkswagen group has exported 30% of India-made automobiles to 40 countries, making India the brand’s fourth largest export center globally.

Piyush Arora, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SAVWIPL, said, “The significant output of 15 lakh vehicles at our Chakan plant, coupled with the production milestone of four successful MQB models and the 10-year journey of our engine shop stands testament to our dedication to India’s automotive industry and SAVWIPL’s significant contribution to the nation’s talent and workforce.”
