2024 Toyota GR86 40th Anniversary Limited Edition Unveils

Toyota is introducing a special edition of the GR86 in Japan for 2024MY, featuring a retro-flavored variant with an automatic transmission. This limited edition is based on the RZ trim and comes in white or red with black stripes, showcasing an Initial D vibe. The special variant features 18-inch wheels with a dark gray metallic finish and 215/40 R18 tires. The side mirror caps and trunk lid spoiler are black to contrast the body paint. Inside, the GR86 features a black and red theme, with a “Since 1983 40th” logo on the door cards.

The 40th Anniversary Edition from Toyota includes Sachs absorbers and upgraded Brembo ventilated disc brakes in addition to cosmetic changes. If you order the 2024 GR86 in the SZ trim level or higher, these two extras are also available as optional equipment. Overall, the modifications are similar to those made to the Trueno Edition, which was introduced in the US for the 2024MY and features the Brembo and Sachs upgrades as part of the Performance Pack.

Toyota Japan sets 3,822,000 yen ($25,800) for the manual gearbox and 3,920,00 yen ($26,430) for the automatic gearbox. It predicts that demand will exceed the capacity of the planned production run, in which case a lottery will be held to choose who will be given the chance to purchase the car.

The 2024 Toyota GR86 AE86 40th Anniversary Edition was unveiled today at the same time as the 2024 Subaru BRZ STI Sport, which is essentially the BRZ tS for Japan in the United States.
