The 13 vehicles that were stolen earlier this week from a dealership near Flint, Michigan, are still being sought after by police. The thieves chose to burglarize a lot that was enclosed, guarded by a 7,000-volt electrified fence, and patrolled by an armed security guard. The cars are thought to have been stolen by a mob of about 30 people. (theclickreader)
The thieves were shot by the mob as the guard witnessed them in the act. The guard managed to escape the incident unscathed, but the ordeal prevented him from getting a good look at the suspects. The burglars crashed the stolen cars through the fence, causing damage to other cars.

According to Flint Police Chief Terrance Green, who spoke to Fox 2 Detroit, this is not the first time local dealerships have been targeted by thieves. According to him, “groups that travel from other parts of the state just to victimise these lots” frequent the area. He did add that this was the first time that shots were fired back and forth.
At least two Dodge Durango SUVs and a 2022 Ford Mustang were taken by the group. During a police pursuit, the Mustang’s driver crashed. The driver perished when the car caught fire. The Detroit area is where the group, according to police, is based. So far, seven of the stolen vehicles have been found. Police are requesting that those involved come forward even though they do not currently have any suspects.

The targeted theft is only the most recent in a string of high-profile crimes that have targeted car dealerships and parking lots all over the region. More than a dozen Ford Mustangs were stolen from the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in September. In a different area of Metro Detroit, Jeep reported having had two Wagoneers stolen the same night.
Prior to that, in June, police found 13 Ford F-150 Raptors. However, in late July, several instances of the potent off-road pickup would be stolen. Police chased one suspect, detained three people, and found a Mustang that had been taken. This year, police have even detained children as young as 11 for car theft.
