Royal Enfield ‘Constellation’ Motorcycle Planned for India

Royal Enfield, our wonderful country’s oldest worldwide motorcycle company in continuous production, has registered the trademark for the name ‘Royal Enfield Constellation.’ This nickname could be used by the Chennai-based motorbike manufacturer for one of its upcoming models in the country.

This is not the first time Royal Enfield has used this name, as the business had a motorcycle with the same name in the 1950s. In addition, Royal Enfield’s parent business, Eicher Motors, patented the word ‘Constellation’ in 2005.

The Royal Enfield Constellation 700 was a model that was exclusively sold in the United States. The bike was sold from 1958 to 1963 and was dubbed the “first Superbike” of its day. The Royal Enfield Constellation 700 inspired the Super Meteor 700 and Interceptor 750. A single Amal TT Carburettor powered the 692cc parallel-twin motor, which had a maximum power output of 36 horsepower.

There are no definite sources that indicate which bike this nickname will be seen on, but based on the previous model that wore this badge, we anticipate it will be seen on one of the Chennai-based bikemaker’s next 650cc bikes. There are now three competitors for the Constellation name: one is a true-classic cruiser with a low seat, swept-back handlebars, and forward-set footpegs, and the other is a bike with more upright ergonomics and mid-set footpegs. The second bike mentioned here has been seen in two trim levels in the country during its testing in which the first variant had alloy wheels with an upside-down fork setup, while the second had wire-spoke wheels and a traditional fork setup.

Apart from Constellation, Royal Enfield has trademarked names including Flying Flea, Roadster, Shotgun, Sherpa, and Hunter in recent years, but we have yet to see a model with any of these names. Another theory is that Royal Enfiled’s newly trademarked name might be used for a variety of products that the company produces or plans to develop. Electric bikes, motorcycle saddles, mudguards, wheels and handlebar grips, and any other OEM component or range of accessories are among the items that might be given this moniker.

In other developments, Royal Enfiled is preparing to debut its newest product, the Scram 411, in the near future. The new model is a road-focused variant of the Himalayan, the company’s previous adventure vehicle. The RE Scram 411 will draw design elements from its ADV sibling, including a revised instrument dashboard with the Tripped navigation pod, a cast metal-finished headlamp cowl, split seats, and altered side panels, among other things.

It will also be fitted with spoked 19-inch wheels and dual-purpose tyres. The Scram 411 will also get a jerry can handle and a large windscreen. Royal Enfield has been tight-lipped on the pricing of new model, although we expect it to start at around Rs 1.80 Lakh. The Scram 411 is expected to make its debut in the latter part of this month.
