The Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411 is the most recent addition to the Himalayan line of motorcycles. It’s a more compact and approachable variant of the Himalayan. The Scram 411 is a scrambler-styled model, as the name implies. The Scram 411, unlike the legendary scramblers of the 1960s and 1970s, which were essentially stripped-down road cycles, adapts the Himalayan adventure platform into a more approachable scrambler-styled model. Here’s what’s new with the Royal Enfield Scram 411, what it has to offer, and how it differs from the Himalayan.

1. Engine

The Himalayan’s 411 cc single-cylinder, single overhead cam, air-cooled engine produces 24.3 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm of peak torque between 4,000 and 4,500 rpm. The Scram’s fueling has been tweaked to make the throttle response feel more crisp and responsive. The same map will be used in newer Himalayans as well.

2. Chassis And Suspension

The Scram has the same half-duplex frame as the Himalayan, but it has a 19-inch front wheel instead of the Himalayan’s 21-inch. The ground clearance has been reduced by 20 millimetres to 200 millimetres. The Scram’s front suspension travel is likewise 20 mm shorter, at 190 mm. The Scram 411 features a steeper rake due to improvements in the front suspension and a smaller front wheel.

3. Design

The Scram 411 is a smaller and more approachable version of the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The Scram 411 lacks the Himalayan’s windscreen and the headlamp is set somewhat lower, giving the Scram a more appealing appearance. The tank-mounted baggage mounts have also been removed, and tank shrouds have been installed in their place. The side panels have also changed, and the seat has been redesigned as a single-piece item with a 5 mm lower seat height. The single-pod offset instrument console is likewise different, and the rear grip rail is shorter.

4. Dimension

The Scram 411 weighs 185 kilogrammes dry, which is 5 kilogrammes less than the Himalayan’s 190 kg. The weight difference between the Scram 411 and the Himalayan’s kerb weight of 199 kg is only 3.5 kg with the centre stand, which is not a standard equipment on the Scram 411. Overall, the Scram’s wheelbase is 10 mm shorter than the Himalayan’s.

5. Price And Variant

Prices start at Rs.2.03 lakh (Ex-showroom) for the base model, which comes in three colours (Graphite Blue, Graphite Red, and Graphite Yellow), and go up to Rs. 2.05 lakh (Ex-showroom) for the mid-spec variant, which comes in two colours: Blazing Black and Skyline Blue. The top-of-the-line White Flame and Silver Spirit colour options cost Rs. 2.08 lakh each (Ex-showroom).
