It’s a global concept that likely would have appeared at the 2022 Beijing Auto Show.
Lincoln hasn’t spoken much recently, at least in terms of future models. The Corsair is getting a facelift, but with automakers releasing new electric vehicles on a weekly basis, the luxury brand has been strangely quiet. This is especially true given Lincoln’s parent company Ford’s success with the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E.
Things appear to be about to change. Today, we have our second word on a new all-electric design from Lincoln, which will be unveiled on April 20. We wouldn’t blame you if you couldn’t remember the first word. Lincoln first mentioned their first electric vehicle in June 2021, anticipating a launch in 2022.
Back then, it wasn’t clear if this would be a production vehicle or a concept but now it appears the latter is true. And judging by a couple of enhanced screenshots from a new teaser video, it appears to be an SUV.

That shouldn’t come as a surprise for a couple of reasons. For starters, SUVs make the world go around, especially at Ford. Secondly, teaser sketches from last June showed a futuristic interior of a two-row, four-seat SUV with big side windows, and we get that same impression from Lincoln’s new teaser video.
The luxury company says its concept “serves as inspiration for our totally electric Lincoln automobiles arriving in the near future” with the new teasers. It remains to be seen whether this is a radical concept or a car that is close to production. However, with BMW and Mercedes-Benz already moving forward with electric SUVs, we imagine there’s a lot of pressure on Lincoln’s top brass to get something going, and fast.

Despite naming this a global idea, the April 20 unveiling date suggests Lincoln is concentrating its efforts on China’s automobile industry. The 2022 Beijing Auto Show is set to open on April 21, implying that Lincoln intends to display this design there. Due to a return of COVID-19 in the area, the concert has been postponed indefinitely.
