New Zealand-based track car specialist Rodin has revealed its first bespoke model, the FZero, which founder David Dicker says will be the fastest car on earth.
Does the car spectrum have room for one more hypercar? By creating the FZero, New Zealand-based Rodin Cars expresses this viewpoint. There will eventually be a road-going version of this track-only vehicle. The intimidatingly large single-seater measures 5,500 mm (216.5 in) long, 2,200 mm (86.6 in) wide, and has a massive 3,000 mm wheelbase. It has a Batmobile-like appearance (118.1 in). It stands just 1,130 mm (44.4 in) tall, which is impressively low to the ground.
The Rodin FZero is rather large, but it weighs only 698 kilogrammes (1,539 pounds), and that is with all the necessary fluids added. It uses a lot of carbon fibre, as you have probably guessed by this point, to reduce weight. The front and rear 380-mm brakes are made of carbon-ceramic material, and the entire chassis is constructed of carbon fibre composite. OZ Racing’s forged 18-inch magnesium wheels are covered in Avon slicks and add to the diet.
The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V10 engine that powers the track monster is described as “revolutionary.” It is an entirely new engine that Neil Brown Engineering helped develop. It can generate 986 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 910 Newton-meters (671 pound-feet) at 7,250 rpm. An eight-gear Ricardo gearbox transmits power to the road from the engine’s redline of 10,000 rpm. (buy modafinil tablets india)
Together, the ICE and electric motor can produce 1,160 hp and 1,026 Nm (757 lb-ft) of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels. The Rodin FZero will only be available to 27 people, and the first vehicles won’t be finished until next summer. Price: £1.8 million, or roughly $2.2 million at the moment.
Rodin Cars aims to have a fully working prototype by late 2022 to test out its claimed 4,000 kilograms (8,818 pounds) of downforce and hopefully its 224 mph (360 km/h) top speed. As for the street-legal equivalent, it won’t arrive before selling the track-only FZero.
