In order to gain a sizeable share of the market, Honda has developed an aggressive product strategy with which it hopes to make a significant impact in the electric two-wheeler industry in the years to come. The strategy of the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer, which plans to launch nearly ten new zero-emission models as early as 2025, was revealed in a presentation.
The company likely displayed its electric two-wheeler plans internally, and it will have its hands full over the coming few years. According to the presentation that was leaked, Honda will target various market segments with various price points and body styles to appeal to a wider range of customers in the international markets.
Honda will introduce a total of five new commuter electric scooters in developed markets like China, Japan, Europe, and some regions of Asia. In addition, Honda will introduce four new fun electric vehicles in the US, Europe, and Japan. A cruiser, a large-sized maxi-scooter, and a neo-retro motorcycle will all be included in the fun EVs and will all be powered by electric motors, according to the presentation’s hidden models.

Honda is also creating a child-sized electric dirt bike. What appears to be the electrified version of the Activa is mentioned under commuter electric vehicles for personal use by the brand. Honda’s entry into the electric scooter market may be announced by the best-selling scooter in India, which is expected to debut in 2024 or 2025. The other scooter, which was also shown in the presentation, appears to be more upscale and sportier.
Electric vehicle adoption has been steadily increasing in India, and as a result, sales are rising. The traditional two-wheeler manufacturers are joining the bandwagon as new start-ups appear thick and fast. Bajaj Auto already sells the Chetak, and TVS Motor Company has the iQube available for purchase.
In the near future, other companies like Hero MotoCorp, Yamaha, and Suzuki will also enter the electric scooter market. Honda could use Activa’s well-known brand to have a significant impact on the EV market.
