BMW Deny CM Bhagwant Mann’s Claim Of New Plant In Punjab

To increase the local economy and create jobs, many states are turning to foreign investments. Numerous government representatives hold meetings with various business and brand representatives to support such initiatives. Numerous promises are made in addition to the customary presentations to draw in industries. Even though such high-profile engagements don’t always result in results, public officials and ministers are frequently too eager to take the glory. The most recent illustration of such a claim based on a photo op is Mr. Bhagwant Mann. BMW quickly refuted his claims, which was unfortunate for him. Let’s examine the circumstances in more detail!

Mr. Bhagwant Mann is presently in Germany in an effort to draw in new investors from all over the world. He wants to create fresh alliances for Punjab. The Punjab CM met with BMW representatives at the business’s headquarters in Munich, Germany, for the same reason. As part of the Invest in Punjab initiative, he invited BMW to partner with the Punjab government in the e-mobility sector. The Punjab government reported that the BMW officials also gave a thorough presentation about the operations of the auto giant and then led a tour of the headquarters.

The Punjab CM also extended an invitation to the BMW delegation to attend the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit on February 23–24, 2019, which is scheduled to take place. After that, he posted a number of images to Twitter and announced that he had reached an agreement with BMW to establish manufacturing facilities in the state. “A meeting with their top officials took place at the headquarters of the renowned automaker BMW… They agreed to establish a large-scale automotive parts unit in Punjab. There is currently only one plant in Chennai, Mr. Bhagwant Mann tweeted.

The official Twitter account of the Punjabi government made similar assertions. Additionally, it posted a number of images along with the caption, “The efforts of CM Bhagwant Mann to lure major investments from Germany bore fruit as leading auto giant BMW agreed to set up its auto part manufacturing unit in the state. Following the CM’s presentation of the Punjab government’s outstanding efforts to promote industry, BMW decided to establish a unit there. Although this seems like wonderful news, Bhagwant Mann made a big error because of it.

The aforementioned allegations regarding upcoming projects in Punjab have all been refuted by BMW. According to the company, there are no plans to build more factories in Punjab. BMW, the world’s largest automaker, has released a statement disputing Bhagwant Mann’s assertions. With a manufacturing facility in Chennai, a parts warehouse in Pune, a training facility in Gurgaon NCR, and a well-established dealer network spread out across the country’s major metropolises, it continued, “firmly committed to its Indian operations.” Even though the specifics of the meetings are still unknown, the entire incident is undoubtedly embarrassing for the new CM.
